F-35B fighter jets land on USS Tripoli aircraft carrier
This is the dramatic moment F-35B fighter jets performed a vertical landing on the USS Tripoli aircraft carrier.
US Marines from Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 242, part of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, carried out flight operations aboard the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli (LHA 7) on December 7.
The operations took place on the flight deck of USS Tripoli, flagship of the Tripoli Expeditionary Strike Group, during routine activities in the US 7th Fleet Area of Operations.
Footage shows an F-35B Lightning executing a vertical landing on the ship, showcasing its short takeoff and vertical landing capabilities.
The 31st MEU is the Marine Corps' only continuously forward-deployed Marine Expeditionary Unit, providing a flexible and lethal force capable of carrying out a wide range of military operations and serving as a premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
