Los Angeles, United States - December 28, 2025 12/28/2025 05:03 am GMT-0800 BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A major multi-vehicle traffic collision occurred Sunday morning on the southbound 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights, involving a semi-truck and multiple automobiles, resulting in 16 injuries. One of the vehicles reportedly caught fire during the incident. Emergency response teams arrived promptly at the scene and assessed the situation. A SigAlert was issued, leading to a hard closure of the southbound 5 Freeway at 4th Street. Initial reports indicated that nine vehicles sustained significant front-end damage, and authorities requested a tow for the semi-truck and several other vehicles involved. The California Highway Patrol requested a hard closure of all lanes for two to three hours to accommodate the ongoing emergency response efforts.
