The Thai Prime Minister visited a temple on disputed land captured by Thailand during clashes with Cambodia.

PM Anutin Charnvirakul inspected the Prasat Ta Kwai Temple and Hill 350 areas in Surin province to boost troop morale on December 29.

Footage shows the premier and soldiers chanting as they posed for photos next to a Thai flag hoisted near temple ruins.

Anutin said the temple's capture was a 'source of pride for Thai people' as he thanked the personnel for their sacrifices.

Thailand and Cambodia have signed a ceasefire on December 27, ending weeks of conflict that left at least 26 Thai soldiers dead and one Thai civilian injured.

In Cambodia, the number of military fatalities is believed to be much higher, though regime chiefs have not revealed the actual figure.

At least 600,000 people have been displaced on both sides of the border.

Defence ministers from both nations signed the agreement at a border checkpoint. Among the conditions stipulated was the repatriation of 18 Cambodian soldiers being held by Thailand since July.

The second truce follows the collapse of an earlier flimsy peace pact brokered by US President Donald Trump in July, in a bid for a Nobel Peace Prize nomination.

Thai and Cambodian diplomats have travelled to China's Yunnan province over the weekend for trilateral talks to 'consolidate' the ceasefire.
