Police are probing the death of a Canadian tourist who fell from a condominium in Thailand.

George Eugene Rothweiler, 86, reportedly plunged to his death from his 14th-floor room in the resort town Pattaya.

Police rushed to the scene, where they found the pensioner's mangled body in the car park at 7:30 am local time on January 15.

A search of his apartment found no signs of struggle or theft.

Police Captain Arnon Mahakitausawakul said: 'I have instructed rescue workers to take the body to the Forensic Institute at Police Hospital for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

'We will also interview those close to the deceased and review CCTV footage to investigate this tragic incident.'

Isra Srisaad, 25, a security guard at the condo, said the Canadian lives with his Thai wife, who visits a nearby garden every morning at around 5 am.

He added: 'His caregiver usually arrives at 6 am, but he couldn't find the Canadian man this morning. We searched for him and later looked out from the balcony. We were shocked when we saw him lying motionless in the parking area.'

Just last month, an American pensioner allegedly fell to his death from another condominium in the same city.

Robert Lewis Bisighini, 78, from Connecticut, reportedly plunged from the sixth floor of the Royal Hill Resort condo on December 8.

A housekeeper cleaning outside the building said she heard a loud thud before finding the guest's body lifeless near the stone fence at around 9 am local time.

Police arrived to collect Robert's body and inspect the CCTV footage. They said there were no indications of foul play.
