As the final hours of the year ticked away, families and groups of friends made their way into the center to celebrate together.

Large crowds gathered at Kirkuk’s Governorate Square, where a fireworks display lit up the night sky to mark the new year.

Many attendees stood shoulder to shoulder, watching the show and sharing the countdown atmosphere across the square.

With the area decorated by festive lighting, celebrants posed for souvenir photos in front of illuminated installations and continued the celebrations along nearby streets and public squares.

The city center stayed lively as Kirkuk residents greeted the new year with visible excitement and cheers.
