SIVAS, TÜRKİYE - JANUARY 2: Hafik Lake in central Sivas province has completely frozen over as temperatures plunged below minus 10 degrees Celsius amid severe winter conditions affecting large parts of Türkiye.

The cold snap and heavy snowfall have disrupted daily life across central Türkiye and numerous other regions for the past week.

The lake, one of Türkiye's 135 internationally recognized wetlands, saw its surface freeze following the cold front that hit Hafik district.

Snow accumulation reached half a meter in the district, creating picturesque winter landscapes in parks along the lakeshore. Recreation areas surrounding Hafik Lake were blanketed in white as residents worked to clear snow from their vehicles during morning hours.

Local authorities in Sivas have launched operations to reopen roads to 947 settlements cut off by snow and blizzards.

The extreme weather conditions continue to affect transportation and daily activities across the region.
