Gaza - January 05, 2026 The Israeli military carried out a targeted strike on a Hamas operative in the southern Gaza Strip who, according to Israeli officials, was planning an imminent attack against Israeli forces operating in the area. The military stated that the individual posed an immediate threat to its troops and was therefore struck in a precision operation. Prior to the strike, measures were taken to reduce the risk of harm to civilians, including the use of precision-guided munitions, aerial surveillance, and intelligence assessments. Israeli forces under the Southern Command remain deployed in the area in accordance with existing agreements and will continue operations aimed at addressing what the military described as immediate security threats.
