Various of security personnel on duty Storyline A curfew has been implemented in Yemen's interim capital Aden, where officials report the overall security situation remains stable despite recent regional tensions. Amid evolving political and security developments in southern Yemen, local authorities in Aden have assured the public that the situation in the city is under control. Since December, growing tensions have been reported across several southern provinces, prompting increased security deployments. Security officials said forces remain active across all districts of Aden, with heightened protection for government institutions, financial facilities, and both public and private spaces to ensure public order. Against this backdrop, local authorities in Aden announced on Wednesday the implementation of a citywide curfew, effective daily from 21:00 to 06:00. The announcement said that the measure aims to prevent further escalation and maintain public safety. Emergency responders, as well as personnel from security and military departments, are exempt from the restrictions provided they carry valid identification. "We assure everyone that the situation in Aden is stable. All necessary measures are progressing normally," said Amjad Al-Husseini, director of the Aden Governor's Office. At the same time, the Saudi-led coalition issued a statement saying it is coordinating with Yemen's government and Aden's local authorities to bolster deployments and consolidate stability. The Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council has also instructed the anti-Houthi Southern Giants Brigades, aligned with the government, to collaborate with Aden's security forces. According to this coordinated effort, the Southern Giants Brigades are securing critical sites, including the Central Bank's Aden headquarters and the Presidential Palace, to protect national institutions and ensure the continuity of state and financial operations. "The Southern Giants Brigades have entered Aden and are working jointly with security forces to fully secure vital areas of the city and protect both public and private facilities," said Abdullah Saleh, Brigade commander in the Government Armed Forces. Analysts point out that southern Yemen is currently in a particularly sensitive period, with both local Yemeni authorities and regional countries calling for de-escalation to prevent further deterioration of the already dire humanitarian and security situation.
