Organizers said the protest was also a response to the killing of a U.S. citizen in Minneapolis during an ICE operation over the weekend, which they described as a turning point in anger over federal immigration enforcement tactics.

Speakers and participants linked the Minneapolis incident to broader concerns about raids and detentions nationwide, urging stronger limits on ICE operations and greater accountability for use of force.

The coalition said the Pershing Square action was part of a wider push to oppose Washington’s approach to Venezuela while mobilizing against what they called an intensifying climate of fear for immigrant communities across the United States.
