1. US VICE PRESIDENT JD VANCE MAKING STATEMENTS WASHINGTON, DC, US - JAN. 8, 2026: US Vice President JD Vance defended Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers after a US citizen was fatally shot in Minneapolis, saying the woman was a “victim of left-wing ideology,” during a White House briefing held on Thursday, Jan. 8.

Vance said ICE officers were carrying out a legitimate law enforcement operation when Renee Nicole Macklin Good, 37, was killed, stressing that federal officers acted in self-defense. He accused sections of the US media of portraying the incident dishonestly and endangering law enforcement personnel.

Claiming the woman was linked to left-wing networks, Vance said she attempted to interfere with an ICE operation by driving her vehicle toward officers. He argued that the incident constituted an attack on federal law enforcement and public order.

“There’s a part of me that feels very sad for this woman,” Vance said, adding that he believed she had been radicalized. He reiterated that both he and President Donald Trump stand firmly behind ICE and US law enforcement agencies.
