Capybara holds out its hand to trade for vegetables
This is the adorable moment a capybara held out its paw in exchange for a tasty vegetable treat.
Footage shows the giant cavy, wearing a festive knitted green-and-red collar, shaking hands with a zookeeper for the leafy reward at a zoo in Taiwan.
The staff member can be seen extending his hand towards the large rodent.
Moments later, the animal placed its webbed paw into the man's palm, much to the awe of the surrounding visitors on January 3.
As a reward for the trick, the zookeeper handed over a fresh piece of chopped vegetables, which the capybara happily accepted and munched on.
Capybaras are known for their gentle, sociable nature and are often praised for their remarkably calm temperament.
Native to South America, these large rodents are highly social animals that thrive in groups and can adapt well to human companionship when raised in nurturing environments.
