Off-duty nurses treat passenger losing blood on flight
Two off-duty nurses helped save an elderly passenger who was losing blood during a flight.
Healthcare workers Cao Hui and Zhu were on board Air Busan flight BX 791 bound for Taipei, Taiwan, when the crew announced that a 70-year-old was passing bloody stool on January 13.
Cao Hui and Zhu immediately volunteered to assist the passenger, providing first aid until the aircraft landed safely.
Footage shows airport medics taking over treatment as other travellers were escorted off the plane.
Cao Hui said: 'The tourniquet on the plane was advanced, but the blood pressure monitor was very old and had to be used manually.
'There were no gloves provided, and the patient's blood got on my hands, but the plane was about to land so I continued helping.'
The hero nurses stayed with the passenger until the plane touched down, and he was taken to the hospital.
