A crowd gathered as an Andean condor was spotted perched in its nest before showing off its huge wingspan in Bosque de Palmas Natural Park, Cocora Valley, Colombia.

The filmer said: "The video shows an Andean condor perched on its nest in a wax palm, initially partially hidden behind the trunk. The bird walks to the front of the palm, observes the horizon, extends its wings, and finally takes flight, moving away from the place.

"It was one of those moments that you don't seek, they find you. The magnitude of the condor, combined with the landscape of the Cocora Valley and the wax palms, a national symbol of Colombia, created a profoundly impactful and moving scene.

This video was recorded by me in the Bosque de Palmas Natural Park, Cocora Valley, in Quindío, Colombia, on January 7th, around noon.
