This is the amusing moment a pet starling clucked like a chicken, impressing its owner.

Footage shows the black-collared starling standing on top of a cage while mimicking a hen in front of its keeper in Guangdong Province, China.

It can be seen lowering its head as it vocalises on the spot after the woman commanded it to produce a sound on December 18.

Moments later, it squinted its eyes, appearing to be tired from performing the trick.

The Black-collared Starling is a protected animal in China and is highly regarded for its advanced mimicry skills.

'Unlike many other birds, this species can accurately copy the sounds of other animals, human speech, and even mechanical noises. Their high intelligence and vocal flexibility make them one of the most capable talking birds in the region.
