Los Angeles, United States - January 14, 2026 01/13/2026 05:43 pm GMT-0800 NORTH HILLS, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A large fire at a vacant building in North Hills was threatening a neighboring apartment complex, prompting evacuations. Firefighters responded Tuesday evening to the 15200 block of Parthenia Street to battle the blaze, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Crews reported plumes of smoke emerging from the two-story building as they worked to protect the four-story apartment complex. As a precaution, firefighters started evacuating residents from the apartment complex. The LAFD reported that more than 100 firefighters extinguished the major emergency structure fire in just under two hours. Per protocol for a fire of this size, LAFD Arson responded to the scene to investigate the cause.
