Storyline China's Ningbo-Zhoushan Port leads global cargo throughput for 17 years Eastern China's Ningbo-Zhoushan Port saw a staggering 1.4 billion tons of cargo throughput in 2025, officials from the port said recently, making it the world's top port in cargo throughput. The port's container throughput meanwhile surpassed 43 million TEUs, or twenty-foot equivalent units. The port has launched more than 110 sea-rail intermodal transportation routes which cover 40 inland dry ports. Officials have also said the port's connectivity index is the second highest in the world, with more than 309 container routes that connect over 700 ports in more than 200 countries and regions globally.
