CCTV footage from a toll plaza in Uttar Pradesh has captured a shocking crash involving a speeding truck that rammed into vehicles and seriously injured a toll employee.
The incident took place on Saturday around 2 pm at the Semri Toll Plaza on the Kanpur Highway in Jhansi district, under the limits of Moth police station.
According to visuals, two cars were stopped at the toll booth after a FASTag scanner failed to read one of the vehicles. A toll worker stepped out to manually scan the tag when a truck travelling at high speed approached from behind and crashed into both stationary cars.
The violent impact threw the toll employee onto the bonnet of a car. The truck did not stop immediately and continued moving, dragging the cars along with the injured worker for over 50 metres before finally coming to a halt.
The collision triggered panic among other staff members present at the plaza. The injured were rushed to the Moth Community Health Centre for treatment.
The toll worker was later identified as 56-year-old Ramakant Richhariya, a resident of Urai in Jalaun district, Uttar Pradesh. Authorities are investigating the incident.
