A group of tourists staying in Koh Phi Phi, Thailand, were forced to hold their balcony doors shut to stop a troop of monkeys from breaking into their hotel room.

The filmer told Newsflare: "This video was filmed from our hotel room balcony in Koh Phi Phi while my partner and I were staying at Phi Phi Maiyada Resort. We were inside our room when several wild monkeys appeared on the balcony directly outside and began actively trying to open the glass doors to get inside.

"The moment is funny at first but quickly becomes tense as the monkeys prove how intelligent confident and persistent they are. On islands like Koh Phi Phi monkeys are a normal part of daily life around hotels and beaches but this clip shows how close and personal those encounters can become especially in accommodation surrounded by nature.

"We stayed inside with the doors locked and filmed from a safe distance. The video captures a real unscripted travel moment showing both the charm and the caution required when staying in tropical destinations where wildlife freely interacts with tourist spaces."
