US: Security Alert Sparks Evacuation At Miami Airport
Miami, United States - January 25, 2026 A video filmed by X user Zalmy Cohen captured a security incident at Miami International Airport on January 25, 2026. The footage showed the plane held on the tarmac after landing, with ground activity indicating an evacuation. The caption stated: "Miami airport total evacuation just landed now being held on tarmac." This suggested an emergency or security issue prompted the full evacuation and hold. No panic appeared in the cabin; it was a calm view of the external scene. The event tied to a suspicious unattended bag at Departures Door 21 in the South Terminal. Concourses G and H were primarily affected, leading to a partial terminal evacuation. Miami-Dade Police, the bomb squad, and airport security responded to investigate. Some arriving flights were kept on the tarmac for safety during the clearance. The bomb squad examined the item and deemed it non-threatening, likely forgotten luggage. Operations resumed after about two hours, between 7:25 PM and 9:00 PM local time. No injuries were reported, and no actual explosive device was found—it was a false alarm. The incident caused delays and backlogs for flights. This compounded disruptions from Winter Storm Fern, which was impacting air travel nationwide. Travelers experienced anxiety amid the security response and ongoing weather chaos.
