Ostrich Wanders City Streets in China
TRANSLATIONS OF SOUNDBITES:
1. (Mandarin) no name given, one of the males catching the ostrich:
"When the ostrich ran around, two men chased it and I held a long rope waiting here. That's how we caught it."
2. (Mandarin) no name given, owner of the ostrich:
"I'm keeping it myself. I have two ostriches. They were small when I first bought them but now they have become too large."
STORYLINE
A large male ostrich escaped from its home in the Chinese City of Zhengzhou and went walkabout through the streets until residents captured the bird and returned it to its owner.
Locals eventually managed to subdue the ostrich by putting a bag over its head. The bird was then strapped to a truck and driven home.
The owner, who did not give his name, said he bought two ostriches as pets for his children a year ago.
The unusual incident occurred on the 17th of November although the footage has only just surfaced via Chinese social media.
