Doctors forced to amputate girl's legs during landslide rescue tragedy
Shocking footage has emerged from China of a young girl being carried to an ambulance after doctors were forced to amputate her legs to free from under a rock she got trapped under during a landslide.
The heartbreaking video, filmed in Ankang, Shaanxi Province last Wednesday, initially shows firefighters and doctors trying to free the four-year-old, but they can't free her broken legs from under the rock, meaning they were forced to take her legs.
According to local reports, the girl and her mother were caught in the landslide and were both injured by the tumbling rock.
The mother was freed relatively quickly, but her daughter was trapped with two badly broken legs.
The decision was made to amputate by doctors when it was established that nothing more could be done to free the girl.
Both are now in hospital.
