Walking for the first time without the lift
My daughter Hannah went to St. Luke's Children's Hospital in Boise, ID on July 30th, 2016 with what we thought was a migraine headache. After arriving she was diagnosed with bleeding in her brain from her platelet levels dropping to nearly zero. The condition is ITP or idiopathic thrombocytopenia. She was given a small chance at survival initially. She was in a coma for weeks, had complications with bleeding in her lungs, had her spleen removed, and a tracheostomy tube placed after being intubated for 3 weeks.
Once she stabilized we were transferred to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City in October. When we arrived Hannah couldn't walk, talk, or eat without assistance. The bleeding in her brain left her unable to use her right arm and right leg as well as process and retrieve information.
She started talking immediately after arriving and progress quickly. She stayed in Salt Lake until December 16th and was able to come home from the hospital for the first time in almost 5 months.
