A dramatic video has surfaced from Whistler, Canada of a skier being knocked off a cliff by a small avalanche.

In the clip, which was filmed from a helmet camera last month, the skier is traversing a steep slope when suddenly the snow beneath him cracks.

The avalanche sends him sliding down and carries him off a 15-19 metre rock with a sheer face.

No-one else was involved in the incident and he escaped without serious injuries.

It was my 3rd run in the area on that day and my ~65th day of skiing this season in the resort.
No one else was involved.
It happened on Blackcomb mountain, slightly right to a common spot to travere from diamond into ruby bowl.
It happened in an inbounds area without passing any kind of warning signs.
