An impressive video has emerged of a safari tracker waving a stick at an elephant when it gets too close to tourists in their safari car.

The footage, shot in the Kruger National Park in South Africa in April 7, shows the elephant eventually backing up when it understands it is too close.

"The experienced tracker sitting on the front of the open safari vehicle took his "Knobkierie" made out of wood and started to wave it at the elephant," the filmer wrote.

"A Knobkierie is a short stick with a knob at the top, traditionally used as a weapon by the indigenous peoples of South Africa," they added.
