Two tourists filmed this terrifyingly close encounter with a wild elephant in Botswana.

The Spanish women were relaxing in their campsite in Savuti Game Reserve on August 4 when the fully-grown elephant wandered towards them.

Incredibly, the tourists controlled their instinct to run and let the African giant walk right up to them.

The elephant got so close to the brave tourists that they could have easily reached out to touch it.

After a minute or so, the gentle creature walked off.

"My heart is beating so fast," said the filmer, with a huge sigh of relief.

This video was taken in Botswana's Savuti Game Reserve.The guests was on safari at the end of their day, relaxing at their campsite when this Ellie approached them.At one stage it looked if the Elephant might poop on the ladies head - so close was he.(the nearest lady even mentioned it in the video :) ).The 2 ladies was very brave indeed but got a sighting of a lifetime !
