Australian Science Teacher Jacob Strickling, was caught off-guard when a chemical reaction he was performing reacted more vigorously than expected.

In the video, the teacher claims he has a ''genie'' in the bottle, rubs the bottle and then removes the stopper. All of a sudden, a huge cloud of steam emerges from the bottle.

The senior Chemistry students can be heard laughing in the background.

Fortunately, Strickling was well prepared and protected by his gloves and safety glasses.

Australian Science Teacher Jacob Strickling was caught off-guard when the chemical reaction he was performing reacted more vigorously then expected. He was performing the classic 'genie in the bottle' demonstration which involves a tissue bag containing manganese dioxide dropping into some concentrated hydrogen peroxide when the stopper of the flask is removed. The resulting chemical reaction releases a lot of heat and produces a cloud of erupting steam.
