A major accident was averted on May 11 when a New Delhi-Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani express caught fire in eastern India. The incident took place near Khandapada station in Balasore district of Odisha state.

Visuals filmed by travellers showed thick plumes of smoke billow from the train. Footage also showed a part of the train on fire.

Reports said the generator car of the express caught fire. Fortunately, no person was harmed and the fire was doused after at least three fire tenders reached the spot.

As soon as the fire broke out, the affected coach was detached from the other coaches to prevent the inferno from spreading.
