A fire broke out in the rear power car of a train as it was departing from a northern Indian railway station.

The incident took place on Sept. 6 at the New Delhi station in Delhi state.

Visuals show massive blaze erupting from the rear power car of the Chandigarh-Kochuveli Express as the locomotive was standing on a platform.

Twelve fire engines were dispatched to deal with the blaze, which led to the isolation of the carriage and the evacuation of people on board the train and nearby.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. All passengers have been evacuated safely.

Fire brigade officials rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire in quick time.
