The United Nations agency for humanitarian coordination in Cameroon OCHA has said that their witnesses told them, government forces accompanied by armed civilians opened fire on civilians on February 14, 2020, in the village of Ngarbuh, Donga Mantung division in northwest Cameroon, leaving at least 22 deaths.

Civil Society organizations and Human rights bodies have said the death toll has risen to over 30 persons including 14 children and many women. The government has said only 5 people died and that it was collateral damage following an explosion of fuel during a military operation against Ambazonia separatist fighter.

The Network for the Defense of Human Rights in Central Africa, REDHAC has called on the government to investigate and punish perpetrators. The United Nations said the Biya regime must dialogue with separatists to restore peace in the country.
