A car moved in the wrong direction on a road as the motorist fell asleep at the wheel in eastern China.

The video, shot in the city of Fuyang in Anhui Province on November 10, shows a white SUV moving slowly in the wrong direction on a road while the motorist was sleeping inside the vehicle.

A man was seen catching up the car and trying to wake up the driver.

According to reports, the tired motorist Zhu fell asleep when waiting for the red light but the car was not stalled and moved across the intersection in the wrong direction.

Zhu was finally woken up by kind-hearted people.

Police have told Zhu off, fined him and deducted points from his licence.

11月10日凌晨，安徽阜阳，一辆白色越野车深夜”无人驾驶“并且逆行行驶在道路上。视频中显示，热心群众从外部看，车辆无人驾驶。但走上前发现，车内司机睡着了，蜷缩在驾驶室内，汽车还在缓慢前行当中。最后被群众喊醒。临泉交警随即传唤违法驾驶人朱某辉到交警中队配合调查。
经查，2020年11月10日凌晨，连续工作近20小时的朱某辉驾车从张营返回临泉城区的家中。朱某辉从事个体家装，此前赶工期，连续工作导致身体疲惫不堪。当车辆行驶至临泉县兴泉大道路口等红灯时，朱某辉竟睡着了，当时车辆尚未熄火。停放几分钟后，车辆在怠速状态下，缓慢穿越路口，逆向进入对向车道。等到有群众将其唤醒时，车辆已经行驶过路口，期间还与多车擦肩而过。朱某辉当时也惊出一身冷汗，瞬间清醒后，驾车离开。
民警对朱某辉进行警示教育，依法对朱某辉做出处罚，疲劳驾驶，逆向行驶，闯红灯，共计罚款600元，驾驶证记15分。（视频由安徽台提供）
