Cars are wrecked after floods in Western Venezuela

Four cars were carried away by floods and flung over a wall after heavy rain in Maracaibo, Zulia, North-western Venezuela.

More than 5,000 residents in Maracaibo municipality were badly affected by the flooding after the continuous downpours. Local media reported at least five deaths across the region as of November 18.

San Antonio del Tachira in Bolivar municipality had 91mm of rain within 24 hours according to Venezuela’s National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMEH).

Disaster response teams have been deployed in most of the Western states including Lara, Zulia and Tachira.

The Venezuelan state government had reported damage of around 20 million USD caused by the floods.
