Thief caught on camera stealing money from charity boxes at church in Indonesia

This is a thrilling footage of an Indonesian teenager stealing money from a charity box and then stealing two sarongs to bring the money stolen from a place of worship in West Sumatra province.

Security camera footage at the scene in the Bukittinggi city shows the theft occurred on Tuesday, April 13.

The perpetrator, a teenager wearing trousers and a blue-black sweater, was seen entering the ablution place and then entering the mosque. He then prayed two rak'ahs allegedly to monitor the situation, then walked to the charity box near the exit.

It took about 5 minutes for him to remove the lock on the charity box, then drain the money in it.

Al-Falah Jambu Air Mosque security officer, Ari Kurniawan said, apart from taking money, the perpetrator also stole 2 sarongs which he used to keep money and to cover his body.

"The loss was around 10 million rupiah. The perpetrator left the mosque while wearing a sarong like someone who is sick," Ari said.

Theft has been reported to the police. The perpetrator whose identity has been identified as his face was clearly recorded on CCTV is now a fugitive.

According to the police, the perpetrators took advantage of the quiet location and residents who were busy preparing to break the fast for Ramadan before sunset.
