Thousands of South Africans sympathetic to the Palestinian cause marched to South Africa's parliament to condemn the recent Israeli attacks on Palestinians within the Al Aqsa Mosque compound. The majority of South Africa's political parties joined the march, except for the Democratic Alliance and the African Christian Democratic Party.

Thousands marched from the Muir Street Mosque in District Six, through the Cape Town CBD, and ended at Parliament wear they were addressed by representatives from various political parties.

Bram Hanekom, a leader of Africa for Palestine, announced that he had sent an invitation to the leader of the official opposition party, John Steenhuisen, to which he did not get a response. The Democratic Alliance did not join the march and has not criticised the attacks on the Palestinians, instead calling for restraint on both sides.

Mandla Mandela, the grandson of former President Nelson Mandela, attended the march as a member of Parliament and echoed the words of his grandfather who said the freedom of South Africans was incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians.
