Cape Town, 5 April 2023: The Palestine Solidarity Campaign picketed outside the Holocaust Museum in Cape Town as part of Israeli Apartheid Week and to highlight the recent attacks on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. Dozens of people with Palestinian flags and holding placards shouted anti-Israeli and pro-Palestinian slogans outside the museum.

Fatima Isaacs, holding a placard with the face of Nelson Mandela said: “Our demands is that the South African government must pull our embassy out of Israel.

Nadeem Hendricks, a well known Cape Town activist who campaigns for the Palestinian cause said “Five hundred worshippers were arrested. Now how can you as a Zionist state or as a human being go into a mosque where people are praying. How can you do that. We respect the mosque, we respect the church, we respect the synagogue.”

One placard stated “Germany’s Holocaust paid for by Palestinians” while another said “Free Palestine End The Israeli Occupation”. Protesters also shouted slogans including “From the river to the sea Palestine will be free”.
