A mentally disabled old lady in India was rescued from a deep well she had fallen into, on Thursday 24 June.

The incident happened in Pannikundu, a village in the Madurai district of Tamil Nadu state.

The local fire and rescue department were called to rescue the grammy and rushed to the spot. A few members of the team went into the well, with the help of rope ladder.

Then 60-year-old lady was then put in a harness tied to a rope, with which she was lifted out of the well.

Reports said the well was around 35 feet (10m) deep.

Pannikundu is a village in Madurai district of Tamilnadu. Fire and rescue department got a call from that village for help to rescue a mentally retarded granny who fell in the well.

Then the team rushed to the spot and few members of the rescue team member went into the well with the help of rope ladder.

Then granny was tied into a rope and a safety jacket was given to her. Then she was airlifted and was rescued safely.

Only on the investigation it was known She is Pavunthai and she was a mentally retarded person. Granny was sixty years old.
