Rescuers in southern India hauled a wild bison from a 40-foot-deep well on December 29.

Footage captured in the Didugal district of Tamil Nadu showed a team from the forest department tranquilising the hefty creature so they could lift it from the water source with ropes.

They revived the bison and it wandered back into the woods shortly afterwards unharmed.

Wild bison that came to human habitation in search of food and water fell into a well that was 40 feet deep. Hearing its cries the local villages peeped into the well. They saw a wild bison inside the well and it was very aggressive. Immediately they informed the fire and rescue services and the forest department staff. They rushed to the spot immediately.

They tried to tie it with ropes first but they weren't able to make it. Then they called a vet who reached the spot and tranquilized the wild. Then they tied it around in two ropes and airlifted the bison.

It was brought up and water was poured on it to make it relieved from the medicine that was used to tranquilize the animal. The vet checked the animal and gave some injections to regain its strength. After a few hours it woke up and walked to the woods without any issues according to the sources.
