Scary landing for Easyjet passengers as strong winds hit Birmingham Airport for second day

Pilots struggled for a second day to land their aircraft on Birmingham’s BHX airport runway during strong winds that have hit the whole of the country on over the weekend.

An Easyjet plane from Amsterdam to Birmingham was seen rocking dangerously from side to side moments before touching down at the West Midlands airport on Sunday February 6, as other aircraft were observed ‘crabbing’ before landing.

The crabbing technique is used so the plane can face into the wind, keeping in control as crosswinds buffer the fuselage until the last second where the pilots turn the aircraft straight to touch down onto the tarmac.

Aircrafts often have to deal with crosswinds which often make for a scary and bumpy landing.
