Thai firemen battled to cut a ring that was stuck on a homeless woman’s finger for at least a year.

The local rescue team was called on the scene by a meatball vendor who noticed that the homeless woman’s hand had been swelling due to the stainless steel accessory in Samut Prakan province, Thailand on May 20.

Upon arriving, they cleaned her right ring finger with antiseptic before using a disc grinder to cut through it.

Footage shows a rescuer pouring disinfectant on the woman’s finger while a colleague cut the ring with a power tool.

Meatball vendor Phronprapha Mahaprom said: ‘I sometimes give her food when she comes here at my stall. She has no home and I felt bad for her when I saw what happened to her hands.

‘I tried to ask her but I can’t get a straight answer from her. I think she needs to be in a hospital.’

After almost half an hour, the stuck ring was finally removed and her wounds were cleaned off.

The 40-year-old homeless woman reportedly could not remember her name. She was found to have been wearing ten rings, and 50 bracelets, which rescuers convinced her to remove with the vendor’s help.

She was taken to the Mirror Foundation where she would be given accommodation and medical attention.
