A creative Filipino lit up his brother-in-law's home using a DIY hydropower generator made from plastic bottles and recycled electric parts.

Environmentally-friendly Ronald Butch Rentino, 38, recorded the demonstration of his invention in Roxas, Palawan. He said he used his mechanical know-how to help his brother-in-law save on electricity.

The makeshift turbine capable of powering up to 10 lightbulbs was put together using gallon containers, spare chains, old washing machine parts, and a broken portable generator.

Rentino said: 'I am happy because with that simple knowledge, I have helped my loved ones.'

The hydropower generator is only one of Rentino's many inventions, including a homemade go-kart, and a remote-controlled plane made of styrofoam.
