Emergency services rescue women hurt in jet ski collision in Brighton, England

Emergency services responded Monday 1 August to a collision at sea south of the palace Pier in Brighton on the south coast of England.

Volunteer crew from Brighton RNLI were tasked at around 3pm to a report of an incident between a Jet Ski and rib (rigid inflatable boat) south of Brighton Palace Pier.

On arrival, the crew found an injured woman in the water.

Also on scene was BHCC’s Lifeguard patrol boat, which was joined by a Coastguard rescue helicopter from Lydd. The helicopter lowered their paramedic and specialist equipment to the lifeboat.

In a joint operation, the casualty was brought onto the lifeboat and transported to Brighton Marina, where the local ambulance service took her to hospital Her injuries were reportedly not life-threatening.

Shoreham and Newhaven Coastguard were also on scene providing support.

The coastguard helicopter then landed in the Brighton landing site until the medic was returned and took off around 17:20.

Police said the occupants of the jetski and the boat were known to each other and the crash is believed to be accidental.
