This is the terrifying moment muddy flash floods washed away parked cars during a tropical rain storm in the Philippines.

Footage shows the deluge turning a road into a brown river gushing heavily towards the vehicles in Cebu, on August 7.

A parked tuk-tuk, van and a SUV were swept 15ft away before the frantic owners secured them with ropes.

Onlooker Jezrael Alferez said: ‘The current was too strong so the drivers left and waited until the flow was weaker. It was so scary. I hope everyone was safe.'

No one was reported hurt in the incident but the combined effect of the southwest monsoon and low pressure area of weather triggered landslides, flash floods, and flash floods that affected 392 families between August 3 and 7.

The freak weather dumped an excessive amount of rainfall in the region during the first week of August alone which is way beyond its monthly average volume.
