Brown bears wrestle in action-packed footage taken by delighted US photographer
A photographer got up close and personal with a pair of wrestling brown bears to capture this spectacular footage.
Jennifer Hadley, 41, hid close to where the bears were having their altercation in the Katmai National Park in Alaska, US.
The young bears are sparring, and the fight is not a serious effort at dominance, but the effect is still awe-inspiring and exciting.
"It was so thrilling to witness the bears in action, and they really were giving it what for!
"Male bears fight over territory and mating rights when it’s absolutely necessary but they will often spar like these two in order to hone their skills and practice for a real fight.
"Don’t worry, after a few minutes, these two walked off together peacefully," said Jennifer, who lives in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Katmai National Park is a haven for brown bears, and is popular with photographers keen to document the action.
The national park is home to thousands of brown bears, and was established in 1918.
