Snake wranglers remove 15ft-long python wrapped around electricity post in Thailand
Snake wranglers removed a 15ft-long python wrapped around an electricity post in Thailand.
The serpent was chased out of a local's home before it climbed up a pine tree and crossed in a cable to reach the peak of a 32ft-high post in Sattahip province on August 31.
It was coiled around the cables and pole, which worried residents and rescuers as it could be electrocuted and cause damage to the power lines so they used a tall crane to catch it.
Footage shows the snake trying to move away from the rescuers as it was pulled off the cable.
Ice cream vendor Suan Taeng Chankaew, 56, said: ‘I called for help. I saw the snake crossing from the tree to the electric post. It was too high and no one could reach it.'
Sattahip Electricity Authority The Royale Thai Navy Welfare Concession workers brought crane to reach on top of the post.
The snake was eventually caught and released back to nature.
The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
