This is the shocking moment an SUV was swept away by raging floods as Typhoon Hinnamnor battered South Korea on Tuesday.

The vehicle was filmed being washed along the river after floodwater gushed through roads in Pohang-si in Gyeongsangbuk-do province on September 6.

Resident Worrawan Rattanasiriwan recorded the disastrous scene from the balcony of her home.

She said: 'The flood submerged half of the road behind the house. I've lost count of how many cars floated away.'

The Korea Meteorological Administration said Hinnamnor touched down near Geoje City in South Korea's southeast at 4:50 am local time on September 6, with reports describing it as the 'most powerful' storm to hit South Korea in years.

It left at least 11 dead and three injured.

South Korean officials said thousands were evacuated as some 8,328 houses and 3,085 commercial buildings were flooded.
