A rare 'Fogbow' appeared in Sheerness, Kent this afternoon (February 6) as the UK experiences a cold snap.

A fog bow - also known as a white rainbow - is a similar to a rainbow but with fainter colours due to the very small size of the water droplets that cause fog.

A fogbow forms "from sunlight interacting with water droplets contained in fog, mist or cloud rather than interacting with raindrops as it does in a classical rainbow," the UK Met Office website says.

The UK Health Security Agency has issued a cold weather health alert as the nation braces for freezing conditions over few days.
