Floods caused by the overflow of the Way Besai River in the Indonesian province of Lampung, have submerged hundreds of houses.

Among the affected areas are Negeri Agung Village, Pulau Batu Village, Penengahan Village, Sunsang Village, Kota Baru Village, and Kota Bumi Way Kanan Village.

A resident from Dusun I, Negeri Agung Village, Sugiarti, said that the water started hitting the areas on the morning of March 9.

The water reached more than one meter high, resulting in the total paralysis of residents' activities.

Some of the villages affected by the overflow of the Way Besai River include Negeri Agung Village, Pulau Batu Village, Penengahan Village, Sunsang Village, Kota Baru Village, and Kota Bumi Way Kanan Village. One resident from Dusun I, Negeri Agung Village, Sugiarti, said that the water came on Thursday morning and continued to rise. When the flood came, the weather was rainy and windy. There was no inkling at all that there would be a flood for the umpteenth time.

Meanwhile, the Way Kanan Regency government has provided assistance to flood victims in the Negeri Agung Village, Negeri Agung District. The assistance provided in the form of basic necessities, including rice, sugar, one box of instant noodles, and fifty ready-to-eat meals packages.

The government also plans to relocate residents' settlements that are often flooded during heavy rain. Currently, the water is still inundating residential areas, and the Way Kanan BPBD team is conducting data collection regarding facilities damaged by the flood.
