This footage was filmed and produced 20 March 2023.

Firefighters in Spain's Madrid region rescued a 55-year-old paramotor pilot who was entangled in overhead cables more than 80 feet above the ground at night.

The rescue took place in the municipality of Nuevo Baztan after a call to the emergency services on 20th March.

The powered paraglider was stuck 25 metres above the ground and was extracted by officers in a basket attached to a fire engine's extendable boom after the electricity company turned off the power.

The pilot was in perfect condition and did not require medical attention. Powered paragliding is a form of ultralight aviation where the pilot wears a motorised backpack called a paramotor, which provides thrust to a paraglider wing above.
