Indian officials have reported that at least 62 people were injured on April 14 when a steel footbridge collapsed during the Baisakhi fair in Beni-Sangam, Udhampur.

According to SDM Chenani Parvaiz Naik, the injured have been transported to the hospital for medical attention, while rescue operations continue at the site with the assistance of police and other teams.

It is suspected that the bridge collapsed as a result of overloading, as a significant number of people were on it at the time of the incident.

Jammu Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar has indicated that 25 people are currently receiving medical care at District Hospital Udhampur, with 5 being treated as critical cases at Medical College Jammu.
