Girls riding scooters are set to transport tourists to BBQ diners in Zibo, northern China, ahead of the country's Labour Day.

However, the method has received backlash from netizens who claim it is inappropriate.

On April 27, citizens reported seeing a group of around 10 young women, all 1.75 meters tall, wearing tennis uniforms and skirts, riding electric scooters to transport tourists to the city's BBQ restaurant for the upcoming Labour’s Day holiday.

Videos posted online showed the women waving and wearing helmets with visors as they rode. However, some people have criticised this promotional method as inappropriate.

The tourism department clarified that it was not an official event and was organised by a local electric vehicle dealer for advertising purposes.

The video was provided with local media’s permission.
