Pedestrians and parked vehicles got struck as a 32-storey building's facade crumbled in southern China.

CCTV footage filmed in Xinhua County in Hunan Province on July 6 shows fragments of a building falling initially, leading to panicked passers-by scampering for safety.

A larger chunk of the facade then tumbled, creating a dust cloud reminiscent of an explosion and knocking several people to the ground. Scattered bricks and debris littered the street aftermath, with an overturned motorcycle amid the rubble.

Ms Xiao, an eyewitness, described the building from where the wall collapsed as a 32-story building, part of the Tianhe New Village complex, situated near Tianhua South Road in Xin Hua County, adjacent to a major road and a five-star hotel.

By the time she arrived, the debris had already fallen, and those hit by the bricks had managed to escape with minor injuries. However, the damage to parked taxis was considerable, with the back windows completely smashed.

A worker from the Feng Lin Street Office reported that the incident resulted in four injuries, none life-threatening.

Authorities are currently investigating the entire complex and rectifying the area of the incident.

The Xin Hua County Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau said it is further investigating the cause of the exterior wall's collapse.
